The Tasmanian Government has a plan to take areas of our Wilderness World Heritage Area, currently open to all Australians, and lease it to developers for private luxury lodges, some accessible only by helicopter.

The most advanced of these proposals is a private luxury lodge at Lake Malbena, inside the Walls of Jerusalem National Park.

Where once was tranquil wilderness, the noise of private helicopters will fill the air.

No one supports this proposal except the State Government and big developers.

It is not just the environment and everyday Australians that will lose out if these developments proceed. Existing tourism operators, and the Tasmanians they employ, could be negatively affected as more and more of the pristine environment that drives Tasmania’s tourism economy is undermined.

Tasmania's World Heritage Wilderness should stay free for everyone to enjoy now. Add your name to the call!

To the Tasmanian Government,

We urge you to abandon plans to lease parts of Tasmania's Wilderness World Heritage Area to private developers.

We support the anglers, bushwalkers, small tourism operators, wilderness guides, local Tasmanian communities and conservationists who oppose these plans.

Tasmania's World Heritage Wilderness should remain free for everyone to enjoy.
