Politics in the Pub Canberra – ‘Challenging Canberra: Creating a sustainable City’ – 14 September 2011

The Australia Institute, in partnership with the Canberra Environment Centre, will host Politics in the Pub on the evening of Wednesday 14 September. Professor Barbara Norman from Canberra Urban and Regional Futures (CURF) will address the topic ‘Challenging Canberra: creating a sustainable city’. Professor Norman will offer a vision for a sustainable Canberra: one with better public transport, access to renewable energy, better designed suburbs and community hubs. She will discuss what politicians and individuals can do to make it happen. Barbara is the Head of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Canberra. She is also co-director of Canberra Urban and Regional Futures (CURF) and an adjunct professor with the Australian National University. Barbara has extensive experience in the public sector and is a former national president of the Planning Institute of Australia.
