Australia is a low-tax country, raising just 30% in tax revenue as a share of the economy, well below the average of 34.9% across developed countries. Countries that raise more tax and spend more on public services tend to have healthier, happier communities and higher incomes. Currently, Australia is not collecting enough tax and, as a result, the country has higher levels of poverty and insufficient funding for education, health and other services.

Each fortnight, you will hear from policy experts from the Australia Institute, who will take you through the key things you need to create change on critical public policy issues – like fair tax reform, electoral reform, the Australia/USA relationship, the housing crisis, or reducing greenhouse gas emissions.
