Stephen Parker

Professor Stephen Parker AO is a legal academic and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Canberra, a position he has held since 2007. He has become known for his views on proposed changes to education funding, describing these measures to be “unfair, unethical, reckless, poor economic policy, contrary to the international evidence and being woefully explained, raising suspicions about how much thought has actually gone into them” making them “the worst piece of policy I’ve seen in Australia in my 26 years here”. The proposal “spells disaster for students and the country” and Prof Parker argues advocates and the sector should oppose rather than try to compromise on elements of the package.
