Frank Yuan

Postdoctoral Fellow

Dr. Fangcheng (Frank) Yuan is a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Australia Institute.

Frank graduated from the University of Sydney in 2024, with a PhD in history for his thesis on Australia’s policy towards the People’s Republic of China during the Cold War. Prior to joining the Australia Institute, he worked as a sessional lecturer at the University of Sydney and a research assistant at the Lowy Institute. Frank has published on Australian foreign policy and Australia-China relations, as well as the philosopher Slavoj Zizek. His interest also includes China’s energy policy, foreign policy, and macroeconomic management. Having grown up in China, Frank remains fully bilingual.
