A special message from Prof. Peter Doherty

We need all the mindpower we can muster as Australia moves forward to deal with the complex issues that confront us.

While voters have changed the government, it’s clear analysis and good ideas based in solid research which changes debates and policy outcomes.

After the election, we are seeing a very different Australian Government that is doing its best to rebuild under difficult circumstances.

As an immunologist and Nobel Laureate, I know firsthand that research and breakthroughs don’t happen overnight.

There’s clearly a lot of hard work that needs to be done on the policy front. Sound, well-researched input from respected, independent analysts at the Australia Institute can help shape the thinking that leads to optimal outcomes.

Effort at this level requires resources, both human and financial. But it’s work that has great merit if we are to benefit from insights and realistic proposals – grounded in evidence – that can truly change a country.

That’s why I’m writing to you today, as the patron of the Australia Institute, to ask you to donate to the Australia Institute’s End-of-Financial-Year Appeal.

Every donation big or small makes a difference and helps safeguard our research program for the next year.

Donate today

What’s more, thanks to two generous donors, every donation made between now and June 30 will be matched – dollar for dollar – until our fundraising target is met.

That means if you donate $100, the Australia Institute receives $200.

Donate $500, and the Australia Institute receives $1000.

Help fund new ideas backed by facts and research and help shape the debates and drive policy outcomes as we do our utmost to provide solid input to policy makers.

We need all the mindpower we can muster as Australia moves forward to deal with the complex issues that confront us.

With thanks,

Laureate Professor Peter Doherty AC
Nobel Laureate Immunologist and Patron of the Australia Institute
