ACT should not copy unfair and undemocratic electoral changes – submission
The Australia Institute welcomes the opportunity to make a submission to the Standing Committee on the Integrity Commission and Statutory Office Holders’ Inquiry into the operation of the 2024 ACT Election and Electoral Act 1992.
The ACT could introduce inclusive, effective electoral reforms like lowering the voting age or adopting a democracy voucher model for public funding.
On the other hand, proposals for donation caps and a reimbursement model for public funding are poorly reasoned and would make ACT elections less democratic
