Gas exports from WA cause more greenhouse gas emissions than 153 individual countries and threaten our most iconic natural wonders like Scotts Reef and the Kimberley. Rather than protecting WA, gas corporations are planning a huge expansion, supported by the WA and Australian Governments.

The economic and job claims the industry and government use to justify this are largely nonsense. 90% of WA’s gas is exported and the federal government gives them three quarters of the gas royalty free. None of these companies have ever paid Petroleum Resource Rent Tax, and they receive generous taxpayer subsidies. Now as Woodside run out of offshore gas to export, they are exporting WA’s domestic onshore gas reserves which is driving up gas and electricity prices.
