Joey Herlihy

Research Intern

Joey is a Research Intern for the International & Security Affairs Program at The Australia Institute. He is currently researching the evolution and significance of the Australia-US economic relationship, dating from the First Fleet to today, on which will publish an extensive report at the conclusion of his internship.

His research expertise and interests include US national security policy, the US-Australia alliance, international security, and nuclear arms control.

Born in Washington, D.C., Joey is a student at Georgetown University’s Walsh School of Foreign Service. He is entering the final year of his Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service (concentrating in International Politics and Security) and the first year of his Master of Arts in Security Studies (concentrating in International Security). He is a fluent Spanish speaker and member of the Sigma Delta Pi Honour Society.
