Tasmania has not published a State of the Environment Report since 2009. Nationally, alarming declines of natural and cultural values are underway. Without a state-focused analysis, Tasmanians are in the dark about the scale and detail of concerns and government decision-makers are flying blind.

Tasmania’s next report is due in less than 12 months. But what will it consider? Is there enough data available and will the government invest in a contemporary assessment and reporting framework after 15 years of neglect?

The report has been prepared by The Australia Institute Tasmania, Environmental Defenders Office, and the Tasmanian Independent Science Council.
