Polling – Housing Policy

Key results

The Australia Institute surveyed a nationally representative sample of 1,002 Australians about their attitudes towards the Federal Government’s response to the housing crisis.

  • Two in three Australians (68%) disagree that the Federal Government is doing enough to tackle the housing crisis, including 65% of Labor voters, and 83% of One Nation voters.
  • An overwhelming majority (80%) of Australians agree that in the next federal budget the Government should spend more money to directly build affordable housing.
  • Twice as many Australians disagree (51%) as agree (25%) that the Federal Government’s proposed investment fund would provide enough social and affordable housing.
