Kristen Scicluna

Postdoctoral Research Fellow

Dr Kristen Scicluna is a Postdoctoral Research Fellow at the Australia Institute.

Kristen is a former biomedical researcher and communications professional with over a decade of experience in the biomedical research sector. She completed her PhD at Australia’s first medical research institute, WEHI (formerly the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research) through the University of Melbourne.

Trained as a cell biologist and protein biochemist, Kristen studied the underlying molecular causes of cancer and neurodegenerative diseases. After completing her doctorate, she worked as a Communications Adviser where she translated complex scientific concepts into understandable language for non-technical audiences.

As a passionate advocate for science and research integrity, Kristen aims to promote ethical and accurate communications to address scientific gate-keeping and bridge the knowledge disparity between the scientific community and the general public.
